Center For Legal Justice, Attorney Howard Feinmel. Has anyone hired this lawyer for credit card debt DISMISSAL, NOT Debt Consolidation or for Time Share loss?

I've been advised that Mr. Feinmel is an excellent attorney and knows the ins and outs of Banks/Creditors and works to get one's debt DISMISSED, not consolidated.

Julianne, I got a call from the C4LJ,also, as I was seeking information on help with debt. The rep explained how they put unsecured debt into dispute according to fair credit reporting act and find violations, freezing the acct, and asking the credit card company to settle the debt instead of incurring violation fines. Is that how it was explained to you?
I don't know...It sounds too good to be true. And after agreeing to pay C4LJ, "what if" they don't find any violations? I imagine the debt isn't settled, and then we would owe the debt and have handed $ over to C4LJ.
Any other input out there?
I'm skeptical and haven't signed up.
Did you?

It IS too good to be true. First of all, unless your state is different, there are no fines for violating the FDCPA. You need to sue the collection agent and usually the maximum amount is $1,000 in damages. Usually the only creditors who even worry about demands from an attorney are those collecting small debts. Also important is that if your debt is still owned by the original creditor (i.e. the bank or credit card company) the FDCPA does not even apply. Generally in operations such as Feinmel's you end up with a much worse credit report and more in debt than if you had just called and negotiated with the creditors yourself.

You must do a good research about them before you sign up. Know more about what people have to say regarding their services. You may go through testimonials if any. You should also look for their accreditations.

Hi Julianne, What is debt dismissal? I know about Debt Settlement - where your total debt including your APR is consolidated and then negotiated to be bought down to 40% - 60% of the original debt amount and can be paid in lump sum or in installments, it does has it effects on your credit score. Debt Management - where your APR is negotiated and bought down and then you keep on paying off your debt but with a lower APR the former method is good and better than the later, but I just do not understand what is debt dismissal, is it some flowery word used by a sales rep in a sales pitch to get another sales for the day... One should not give false or wrong information related to such topics to consumers just to make a sale and get another client. Hope the above answer helps Thanks TEAM ALG www.angellawgroup.com

Yes, unlike debt consolidation, debt settlement takes a hit on your credit. Your credit score only improves in the long run if you can generate your creditworthiness after you get debt-free.
