Review 5/1/2009

I think everyone should be aware that the review posted in ALL CAPS is likely a representative from the American Century attempting to save face. There are other transport review sites where one reviewer, also using all caps, claims to be "treated like family". Coincidence? No way. If American Century is family, its certainly dysfunctional.
I went into this with both eye's open. I read reviews about American Century and knew they would entice a sale with the fuel "vouchers". They did offer a pretty reasonable quote so even if I don't take advantage of the vouchers (and I likely won't considering the maintenance of it all) it was still a decent price.
Before I placed my order I tried to get the truth about how the fuel voucher program worked from my sales representative. I actually knew how it worked thanks to the reviews on this site, but I was curious if the sales rep would come clean and be honest about it. He wasn't. The representative had probably rehearsed a technique for landing sales without giving away the actual details of the program, so his answers were quick and vague. The more I asked about it, the stupider he made me out to be as he kept telling giving me the same rehearsed answer. Failure. So whatever, everyone here seems to be okay with the quality of the transport and it was a good price. I placed my order.
Six days after the planned pick-up time I hear nothing. I decide to call and ask for the customer service department to ask about my order. Apparently the receptionist is also the customer service department, her candor was bothered and curt. After passing my name and order number the conversion went thusly:
Her: "How can we help you?"
Me: "I was wondering where in the process we are for my car getting picked up"
Her: "We're still in the process of obtaining a driver for you."
Me: "How long does this usually take?"
Her: "2 to 3 days"
Me: "As of today it's been six days"
Her: "Yes, this is normal as well"
Brilliant. Nothing solved there. Thankfully my call must have gotten things into gear because they found a driver the next day and the car was picked up. I was informed by the gentleman who assisted with the pickup that the driver was knowledgeable and careful. Props to this company for finding a decent driver! Of course the driver's are simply contracted and do not work for American Century. The car arrived on time and in perfect knick.
I wouldn't use American Century again. With as many transport companies as there are, I know I can get honest representatives and better customer service with a perfect delivery. American Century just didn't deliver ;)
