I have two BMW cars and have been going to BMW Mountain View for servicing my cars for the last 2 years. One of my cars had extended maintenance plan and CPO warranty. I didn't realize that these had expired just 10 days before recent servicing of my car. To my surprise, the service shop at BMW Mountain View found leaks with my brakes, transmission and engine at the same time. All these leaks are not due to user errors or any type of accidents - per the shop, it just happens. I had to pay $2,400 for all the services.
I am a mechanical engineer (not a car mechanic) and it sounds a little suspicious to me that the shop found leaks virtually everywhere in the car within 10 days of the maintenance plan and warranty expiry. All these failures don't happen at one time. Either the shop had missed it in prior servicing or they just chose to ignore it. Also, the car brakes were worked on by the shop a few months ago. So, brake oil leak within a few months doesn't make sense to me at all.
I had spoken to BMW Corporate and haven't heard back from them. So, I want other BMW owners to be aware and careful about getting their car serviced in this shop. Either the shop in completely incapable of servicing cars or unethical in their practices, either way it is better to avoid such a place.
