I ended up on this site in search of some information via a Google search. I clicked the Download button to download the document, and a box popped up stating that I needed to simple enter my e-mail to gain access to the document. I entered my e-mail, then on the next page (AFTER they have my e-mail to spam or do whatever they want with), I see that the story changes...and I need to pay for get access to the document. Very shady tactics...getting a person's e-mail address before disclosing the need to pay, is a shady way of doing business. Then I notice on the bottom of the payment page...a strange BBB logo. There appears to be a circle cut out of the blue logo graphic, and a green A+ written in...and the logo isn't clickable to get to the BBB web site (I believe they normally are). So, I went to the BBB web site myself and looked them up, and their actual BBB rating is a few ratings LOWER than this business seemed to fudge on their own web site. I immediately took a screenshot and sent this in to the BBB to report it.

Docstoc has a library of over 20 million documents that are made available through our Premium Memberships. Site visitors can preview our documents without even registering as users. However, when a user wants to download or print a document, they need to register with us, and if the document is part of our Document Library, they need a subscription to access the materials. We do have some free documents available, but that is on a case-by-case basis, decided by the user who uploads the document to our site. We do not harvest emails. If a user chooses to enter their email address, they've opted themselves in. They may unsubscribe from emails or delete their entire account at any point without question. All of your information has been removed from our system. In regards to the BBB logo issue, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We have updated the logo on our site. We had been using the logo we were provided with at the time we created the page. We apologize for this error and any confusion that it may have caused.
