Terrible experience hiring an El Monte RV
|
My wife & I have hired an El Monte RV from Denver for 4 weeks and dropped it off in LA.. It was a terrible experience. Our problems started from the time we walked in the door. We were advised it would take 1 1/2 hour to checkout, our took nearly 3 hours. No ladder to check the top, and I was advised all was okay on top. That night it rained and we realised the vent top over the shower was missing. The top was damaged and we had to pay for it.. The first two nights we had hookup it campgrounds, the third on our own and we found the cabin battery was dead, we then spent 2 days getting the problem fixed after driving back 60 miles.
Locker doors would not stay closed, no matter what I tried to jam them closed. Bit and pieces in the cabin were coming adrift. Rear wheel hubs caps rattled the whole time.
The vehicle was completely underpowered, I was concerned I would be fined for going under the minimum speed limit of 45 mph up small inclines, The best it could do was 35- 40 mph and much slower on steeper inclines. Fuel consumption was 9.1 miles per gallon or 25.2 litres per 100 KM. At check in, no documents to sign, Finally, our visa card has been debited $1,306 an no explanation
