I ordered Hatch Green Chiles from New Mexico Catalog because they claimed to provide great quality, shipping and customer service: as quoted from their website:
Ten "Hot" Reasons to Buy Fresh Green Chile from New Mexico Catalog:
1. Best quality - we ship only the best of each picking and personally inspect every batch
2. Best prices
3. Freshest chile - shipped the same day we receive it, packed in strong, specially designed perforated boxes ...
10. Still not sure? Call our chile experts at 888-678-0585 and we'll be glad to answer your questions and help with your order.
The chiles were supposed to be shipped 2-day priority mail to help ensure freshness. However, they should have shipped on an earlier or even later date. With Labor day coming up, they shipped the chiles priority mail on Thusday Sept. 3rd. The Chiles arrived on Tuesday the 8th. That means if took five days and in that time the chiles spoiled. They arrived in a USPS plastic bag because the cardboard box was soaked through and was leaking all over. Most of the chiles had ripened and softened (turning very red), making them smell slightly moldy as well.
This company will not return my calls or emails and from what other NM farmers are telling me, this company is 'notorious' for bad customer service. All I want is a new order sent to me (although the season is pretty much over) or a full refund. These chiles cost quite a bit of money and it is truly disappointing to see what they shipped to me.
