I just wanted to let everyone know that I had a very bad experience with Ray, the owner, at this business. I bought a car and it turns out that it has a bad transmission. I know that Ray knew about it because I found the auction house he bought the car from and talked to them, confirming that it had a transmission problem stated at the time of sale.
There was no disclosure during the sale of this car stating it had a problem. There is also no chance I will be able to get all of my money back on the car since I looked back at the Bill of Sale he gave me and it was for $2,000 less than I paid for the car, but I didn't notice that the total was wrong when he gave me all the paperwork.
So even if I try to return the car, I will lose $2,000 since he is legally only responsible for giving me back the total on the bill of sale. This was a cash deal, so there is no other record of the transaction.
I find that extremely difficult to cope with (this was my first used car) and I've been struggling with coming up with another $3,000 to get the transmission replaced (Volvo).
After talking with Ray, he offered to sell me an extended warranty for the car for a meager $1,100, but after further research it turns out that the after-market extended warranties don't cover any pre-existing problems with the vehicle. So that would be another few hundred dollars (or whatever his cut is) that he would just pocket.
Be very careful about dealing with this place, if they are willing to do this to me, they could do this to anybody. Feel free to contact me if you want more information as I will gladly share additional details of what happened.
I wish there was a legal recourse for everything that has happened, I thought about small claims court but then again, legally, the bill of sale stated that the total was $3,000, which was wrong.
Note that I went back to see Ray a month later, as he agreed to meet about maybe buying the car back. He ended up offering me half of what I paid, and I know he'll just turn it around and resell it. I declined the offer and am looking at other options. He did say something very interesting to me, he said "The people that come here know these cars have problems, because they are so cheap." and then said "Like that Cadillac out there, it has a bad engine, there is another Volvo with a bad transmission, and the Lexus out there has a cooling problem." I was absolutely shocked to hear this and was really surprised that he thinks everyone knows the cars have problems. I then asked him, "But I bet you don't tell the people about those problems, right?" And he followed with the same statement, "No, people already know they might be getting a car with problems because they are so cheap."
