Dishonest, untrustworthy and incomptent
I see in looking over the reviews for Sunnyvale VW that they are very mixed in their assessments. Not surprising, I suspect. My experience with them turned out to be very unfortunate in time wasted and expenses - both directly with them and incurred because of them. I have a VW RV called a Rialta. It's a VW Eurovan with a Winnebago built on back. I came to them with a prior diagnosis at Cardinale VW in Salinas that I had a faulty torque converter, and possibly transmission as well. Cardinale had not been able to proceed with the repair for 'logistical' reasons, so sent me up to Sunnyvale. Both Cardinale and I described to Sunnyvale what had already been discovered and what my extended warranty policy continued to require in the process. Despite this information, Sunnyvale had me authorize a hefty diagnostic work order WITHOUT DISCLOSING TO ME THAT IF THEIR FINDINGS AGREED WITH CARDINALE ABOUT TRANSMISSION INVOLVEMENT THEY WOULD NOT BE WILLING OR ABLE TO COMPLY WITH MY EXTENDED WARRANTY POLICY, WHICH THEY HAD A COPY OF IN HAND. This would mean that any actual 'fix' with them would have to be out of pocket, although I had just bought the ext. warranty policy no less than 4 months earlier. Once I had incurred a bill of $750.00 for diagnostics, they finally admitted this to me. They wasted two weeks of my time on a trip 2000 miles from home running up motel and car rental bills and charging me for work under 'false' pretenses. Despite loud and lengthy complaints to Sunnyvale VW and to VW Customer Care, I have received no satisfaction at all. No refund, no apologies, no admission of wrong doing, etc. I dealt with three other VW dealerships in the general bay area over this repair and was poorly served. Stevens Creek VW replaced the torque converter finally, after concluding that there was no fault with the transmission at all. But in the process screwed up my engine cooling system and AC, both of which had to be rectified after returning home 2000 miles to Chicago - at more expense! Generally, I am DONE with VW shops
