Review 11/23/2009
Even though THQ is already rated an F. I felt the need to further give THQ the press they have earned and also include their co-branded companies. Volition Inc and gamesformicrosoft.com, as well as Havok Inc. Here is my experience and review.

I recently bought Red Faction Guerrilla from Gamestop. That makes it unreturnable, as you may or not know. Software is now sold as is. But I had faith in the publisher standing behind their products, after all it did tote some big names in the industry. Microsoft and Havok Inc. Boy was that a wrong assumption. I asked for my money back via email($40 US). Jodie, no last name provided, of THQ denied my refund. Reason I sought it. Red Faction Guerrilla for the PC, THQ/Volition's game, promised me Multiplayer, but never deliver. Not only did it not deliver, it required that the End User, me, the purchaser, become the HOST of their product whilst I was online, via an interface, called Matchmaker and Microsoft LIVE, that is just horrible. Because that interface required me to open security threats in my firewall. Something I did, mind you. But even after that it still had no multiplayer.

Let me point out some of the things this multiplayer interface, Matchmaker, is supposed to do or not do.

1. RFG randomly picks a player to host, leaving the EU host no choices.
2. RFG picks the playing field
3. RFG assigns players automatically over time
4. RFG EU's have no control in the makeup of their games, not even the EU host which is denoted by a crown next to his name. And who receives bad press on LIVE! should he accidentally quit the game, whilst hosting.
5. RFG advertised multiplayer. But in short, all I got to play vs is other PC purchasers. I was denied the ability to play vs consolers, something I rather looked forward to doing. Nothing on box, or in game, made that apparent.

RFG for the PC was not what I wanted or experienced in the past when buying games for the PC or games for Windows. Multiplayer aspect in a game, can increase its value to double. Making a $20 game, $40. I bought this under the mistake I was getting traditional multiplayer. IE. The host server run by the publisher or developer. Not another one of their customers.

I was shocked and denied my refund. No reason was given, other than its not their practice to refund customers.

Buyer Beware. Avoid THQ/Volition. I've given the manufacturer, THQ, the required period of time to respond to my BBB complaint. I have heard nothing from them. Not a pin drop.
